I have to tell you something. I’m in love with professional trouble-makers. Not the hooligan kind that disturbs and disrupts maliciously, solely for their own entertainment. No, I’m talking about the good guys, the rebels leading with kick-ass kindness who are changing the game for the rest of us…Continue reading “WHY I LOVE PROFESSIONAL TROUBLE-MAKERS…”
I’d heard that it all comes down to ‘just deciding’ many times. Decide you want things to be different and make it so. Choose who you need to become to achieve your goal then be that person. Decide how you’re going to change things up and then do it. As if it’s ever going to be that easy, right?!Continue reading “MAKE IT A PART OF WHO YOU ARE”
If you relish the stories of powerful brands; if you enjoy cheering for the underdog; and if you love the idea that playful disruption and a sense of fun can change the world of business for good, you MUST read this book!Continue reading “VIRGIN BY DESIGN…”
How about you ditch finding your purpose and learn to embrace your many talents and interests because that is absolutely what makes you, YOU?!
I have a frustration and I’d like to share it with you; I’m a grown woman who cannot label herself. In the past I would take on my job titles – I think that’s what society expects isn’t it? – and with that I became a…Continue reading “STOP TRYING TO FIND YOUR ONE THING…”
I sure don’t.
But for some reason I can’t explain, over the last few years of soul-searching, of looking for a purpose and trying to make sense of who I am, I keep coming back to this one word: MISCHIEF.Continue reading “DO YOU MAKE (ENOUGH) MISCHIEF?!”
…AND YOU GET TO CHOOSE THE COLOURS.
The shading is up to you, the marks you leave are your legacy so what are you going to do with it? We don’t need to be artists to create a work of art. We don’t need to label ourselves creative in order to pick up the paintbrush. We just need to wake up and realise that every day when the sun comes up, we get another blank canvas to play with and another shot at making life epic.Continue reading “LIFE IS A BLANK CANVAS…”
Unlike many creatives I know, I can’t claim to have come from an unsupportive family. Thankfully, that does not form part of my story at all: quite the opposite in fact. My parents were always encouraging when it came to my creativity and looking back, my future path was set from a very young age. I do remember short stints of wanting to be a paramedic, (having engrossed myself in episodes of Saturday night TV drama ‘Casualty’) and also an archeologist, thanks to a fossil project that piqued my interest at middle school. But with the exception of these 2 ideas, the rest of my childhood and early adulthood believed firmly that my destiny would be a creative one. There really wasn’t any other choice. Where else would I possibly fit when I spent all my free time drawing, colouring, making and creating?Continue reading “SHOE REBELS AND LEATHER ROGUES”
As part of my #100DaysofShoemaking project (see this blog post for more info), I decided to design and make a pair of sandals. It’s been a veeeeeeery long time since I last made shoes (hello uni days…) but it was really fun to get back into it with a new style and in my own time. I’ve now completed them and thought I’d write up how it went. Scroll through to the end to see the finished articles!Continue reading “HOW TO MAKE A PAIR OF LEATHER SANDALS”
Last week I passed the big 3-0 days of my #100daysofshoemaking which means by now I’m more than a third of the way through. Woah! It should also mean I have more than 30 shoe posts on my Instagram account to sift and scroll through too but do I? Here is my honest account of how the first part of the project has gone, what’s coming up next and some tips for anyone out there embarking on a similar challenge…Continue reading “THE #100DAYPROJECT – PROGRESS OVER PERFECTION…”
WHAT’S THE 100 DAY PROJECT?
I don’t know about you, but the Corona virus quarantine has left me feeling a bit creatively numb. Life is really topsy turvy right now as we all adjust to a new normal and despite a positive attitude and the gratitude I have for my health, I have found it difficult to be creative. As a result, I’ve been looking for ways to incorporate not only creative thinking but stimulate my imagination to help focus on my ultimate goal – a footwear and leather goods brand of my own. This is where the 100 Day Project comes in…Continue reading “100 DAYS TO BE CREATIVE DURING QUARANTINE”
